She operates the sensory and academic support room at the high school similar to LaCreole but with additional emphasis on academic monitoring and transition (to adulthood) support. She works closely with educators, counselors, and students to give our ASD students the tools needed for graduation and beyond.

Danielle Martinson

The Lounge (Rm 66), a sensory room at LaCreole. This room is set up with zones to support students who need sensory breaks, calm down space, check in person, social skills guidance, quiet space to complete work,  organizational skills, and an alternative for students to access testing accommodations such as reading tests aloud or extended time, etc. Students are typically there between 5-40 minutes depending on the support they are requiring. The room also has its own bathroom which students can use for PE and hygiene accommodations.

Destiny Spellman

Destiny graduated from Western Oregon University in 2017. While there, she earned a degree in American Sign Language and Special Education with a focus in Autism. She joined our Autism Team working in the Sensory Room (Room 66) at LaCreole Middle School. She then moved to Oakdale to work with students at the elementary school age, she loved this position but her heart longed to be working in Special Education.

She rejoined the A Team in 2018 working alongside Autumn Greenwood, the district's Autism Consultant, servicing students K-12 and Post High (18-21).  Some of the responsibilities she has on the A Team are: creating visuals and supports, teaching social/emotional groups, supporting/ training teachers and staff, working with parents, collecting data and attending IEP meetings. You will see her around the district, but if you need to contact her, send her an email or stop by her office at Oakdale Heights Elementary.
